Natalie and Andrew were married at Lake Wanaka in front of 40 guests who flew in from Australia, Germany and around New Zealand to help the couple celebrate. The ceremony took place at the local Anglican Church and the reception was held at a private residence overlooking the mountains and lake.
The vibe was fun and relaxed, with the focus on beautiful food and good music, shared with the people who mattered most to the bride and groom. A helicopter charter for a once in a lifetime scenic tour led to a stunning alpine bridal photo shoot.
A fashion designer herself, Natalie had clear ideas about what she wanted from her dream wedding dress. She loved the idea of a princess style ball gown but also wanted to be comfortable to dance and move freely without the weight of a full skirt. To execute this look, I designed and created a detachable skirt, offering a classic romantic style for the ceremony and then a second cocktail-party look for the reception and dance.
The skirt attached underneath the satin with hooks and eyes and was made of soft bridal tulle. The dress was made of ivory cathedral satin with louise hand beaded lace, it featured a built in bodice and sweetheart neckline with lace shoulders.
“Lainee was awesome to work with and very patient as we had to alter the design along the way. In the end it was perfect - thanks to Lainee's skills, dedication and talent. A lot of people still comment years later how clever it was that the long skirt was detachable and I basically had a different dress for the second part of the day”. Natalie
